The Curlew Mug by Madeleine Floyd features this large wading bird which is known as much for its haunting call as for its distinctive curved bill.

Grasslands, farmland, heath and moor all play host to the Curlew who uses its long down-curved bill to search the mud for worms, shellfish and shrimps.  Its eponymous “coor-lew” call is depicted in lettering around the base of the mug, and if you’re into egg-spotting, the Curlew’s pale creamy egg with brown markings is depicted on the other side of the mug.
